In 2016 I had one short story published, No Other Men in Mitchell, in Nightmare issue 41.
If you’re reading stories at the moment to decide who to nominate/vote for in SFF/Horror awards, I would love it if you read my story here and, if you like it, give it a nod. It’s about a road train driver in central Australia and his ghost friends, and was inspired by the experiences of my partner, a former road train driver and drilling rigger.*
I’ll try to have a full list of my 2016 story recommendations up soon, but here are just a few of my favourites:
The Cedar Grid by Sara Saab in Clarkesworld
We Have a Cultural Difference, Can I Taste You? by Rebecca Ann Jordan in Strange Horizons
Bend Back the Shadows by Michael Reid in Escape Pod
White Dust by Nathan Hillstrom in Asimov’s (January 2016 issue)
The Bonobo’s Dream by Rose Mulready (Novella)
The Grief Hole by Kaaron Warren (Novel)
Disclaimer: I am a judge for the 2016 Aurealis Awards. These recommendations are my personal opinion and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of any judging panel, the judging coordinator, or the Aurealis Awards management team.
*Spoiler alert: the exploding cow is a true story.
